My front teeth are too long can I have them filled down or veneers?

Q. Hi im having a veneer put on only on my front tooth ive always hated my front teeth i think they look to long can you have your front teeth filled down to make them look a little bit shorter it would make me feel a lot better about my self. L

A. Hi L
To recontour teeth, as long as within the enamel, is a minimally invasive procedure and can improve confidence in your smile.

As this technique is so mimimally invasive start here and if you wish to look at further improvements then you could start looking at veneers.

I hope this helps

I had my two top front teeth filed at the dentist when I was 15 as I resembled a rabbit. It didn’t seem to do much and they now look exactly the same. I recently had all four wisdom teeth pulled after they finally grew and my dentist seemed to think I would still not need a brace as there would be extra room in my mouth. I still cannot close it properly when I talk or eat though as the two front teeth get in the way of my lips and I end up spitting all the time which is disgusting. My top lip is quite short which makes this problem worse. The rest of my teeth are a normal size, straight and healthy. I am 23 and do not want a brace now as I have enough trouble talking and it would affect my job. But I am wary of getting the two teeth filed again as this did not seem to help and I am told as I have very long roots they can only file so much – they need to remove about 0.5mm to be a similar length to the other teeth. They stick out forwards as well (where my mouth was so crowded before) and I am not sure this will help. My NHS dentist isn’t a lot of help, but I can’t afford to pay for private fees, so I am researching online so I can just tell him what I want to have done when I see him next.

Charlie, at 23 make sure that you get this taken care of. Get advice from a couple of different dentists and go see an orthodontist. Find out who is a good dentist and think about paying for a consultation. Having your teeth ground down isn’t a big deal cost wise (and the guy may do it in one shot), but be careful because if you make them too short then rebuilding is more challenging.

I have a very toothy smile and was wondering if there is anything hat can be done for this. My teeth arent miss shaped or cruked, the issue is more that they are quite long and i have a look like a rabbit. My thought is thathaving them filed down would be a solutin however im not sure if this is possible or if there is a better solution. Thank you
