MY DENTIST WANTS TO PULL MY 2 TOP CANINE TEETH BEFORE I GET BRACES IS THAT OK

Q. MY DENTIST WANTS TO PULL MY 2 TOP CANINE TEETH BEFORE I GET BRACES IS THAT OK I ALWAYS HEARD YOU SHOULDNT HAVE THEM PULLED THEY ARE THE TEETH THAT KEEP YOUR FACE OVAL AND NOT TO SINK IN. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME?

A. It is difficult to give you an answer without seeing you but I would personally not like to have canine teeth removed I feel they are one of the most important teeth in your mouth.  I have re treated several people of the years who had canines removed and the re-treatment is very difficult and prolonged.  You should ask your dentist why those teeth are being removed and ask for more options. If you would like you can send me a photo and I could try to give you some possible options.
