My dentist told me I can have braces, what should I do and how can I afford this?

Q.
Hello i wanted to ask i have this porblem. I have a mild spacing in my teeth which i personally get paranoid about this because this is affecting the way i am biting into something between meal time. I visted my NHS dental practice to ask for braces and my dentist referred me to a hospital to get braces. I then went to the hospital and the inspector that was checking my teeth said that braces would not do the job and i would have to consider having operation or going to a private orthodontics. I was obviously upset becasue of this and then as i went to my next check up i was told from my dentist that my teeth is not in the catergory mild and i would be able to get braces. I then was obvioulsy confused the reason why i was told that i could not get braces from one place and then I was told from another person that braces would do the job. Becasue of this i am now in a situation where i have to pay for my braces and i cannot afford it because I am a student. I desperately would like to ask help from someone to help me with my problem and becasue of this i can’t go out with my friends or smile on the camera for a family photo and this have seriously been affecting my life for the past 8 years. So please someone help me with this problem and I would really appreciate if someone replied back.

Thank you

A.
Hi
I would love to help but it sounds like you’re a candidate for seeing a specialist orthodontist and if the NHS won’t cover the cost of your care then you have to pay privately for it. As Orthdontic treatment normally takes a number of years, maybe you can ask the orthodontist for payments by instalments?
