is it possible to have implant in my second molar teeth is it too dangerous and difficult

Q. Dear Rob You’ve recently answered a question for me regarding a dental implant in the lower left second molar site (LL7). You suggested that it might be better to leave it open than to place an implant there. I’m wondering, is it POSSIBLE to implant there? I’d find it psychologically quite difficult to be without a tooth and the reason I’ve had problems with this tooth is poor dental treatment (my previous dentist is actually paying for all my treatment needs at the moment in recognition of this). I really would prefer an implant if possible – if the CT scan shows it’s OK, would you feel it is safe to go ahead? Or is it always too dangerous and difficult? Regards

A. It is possible and I do place implants in this area myself. I was suggesting that this site is less favourable than others and if it is used it is best to check that there is a good margin of safety to allow for things not running smoothly.
