Is it normal for crown to fit right?

Q. hello, 2 weeks ago i had a crown fitted by a dentist in Atherstone as my orginal filling had fallen out. Since then i have noticed that the crown does not fit the whole tooth,it does inside by by my cheek it only seems to cover the lower half, it has also been at time sensitive , a feeling of little shocks!!. It feels when i run my tonge over it that there it a small gap between where the cap and my own teeth meet., Does this sound right as i am not sure if it takes time to settle, I am very nervous at the dentist and would be grateful for any advice many thanks,
A. some crowns are designed not to fit over the whole tooth. 3/4 crowns and “onlays” might have a description a little like yours. However the edges should be smooth and if the sensitivity did not resolve over the week then you should return.Rob

my cap has been ground down already as it was too prominent at the time of fitting. it still seems too big – if it is ground down again I am worrried regarding how much surface will be left?
