Is an implant suitable for filling a gap in my bottom teeth?

Q.
I have a gap in bottom teeth, can I get an implant or what else do you suggest I do to solve this? I have severe receding gums I just want a nice smile. I’ve been to the dentists but the plaque builds up quicker than ever. No amount of brushing fixes this. The gap in my teeth started 10 years ago and now looks as if I’m missing a tooth. The other teeth next to the gap are starting to slope and look crooked. Please advice on what I can do and how much it would cost? Thank you

Hello. Thank you for your question. However, it is very difficult to answer this without seeing you for a consultation. Whilst various treatments would probably solve this problem, I feel that the main area to address is the receding gums and the plaque build up. Any treatment you decide to have to close this gap would be dependent on good oral health. The options seem to be possibly an implant or a brace but I would imagine that you will need to get the gum problem in order for any dentist to proceed.
