Im 44 years old and have lost all my teeth apart from front 4

Q. Im 44 years old and have lost all my teeth apart from the bottom front 4. At the age of 25 I saw a local dentist because I needed some back teeth filled he told me not to worry about the back teeth but said my upper front teeth needed urgent attention they seemed fine to me but I agreed for him to do what he thought was best. He then proceeded to file my 6 upper teeth to stubs and placed temporary caps over the stubs, the following week he fitted my caps all of which had gaps at the back where I could put the tip of my tounge . When I complained he told me I had used up all my nhs funds to come back in 6 months when there would be more funds. I went straight to another dentist in tears . It took a year of weekly visits, they replaced the caps with teeth on pins and removed the back teeth. Unfortuntley the front teeth begain to fall out,due to embarressment Ijust left things sticking them back myself. Then in 2002 I suffered a respitory arrest and whilst paramedics were working on me the teeth must have come loose and lost, Ihad a denture made but I kept gagging but I also suffer from narcolepsey & Caterplexy so a dentures not realy safe I cant afford Implants as im a single parent on benefits . Can anything be done for me, Ive hid myself away for nearly 10yrs only going to my parents or local shops I have no friends and now my daughters are 19 & 16 im scared of being alone. Im still attrative until i open my mouth. I might be lucky and find a partner who could live with my illness but I dont stand any chance with no teeth. please help.

A. Hi many thanks for your enquiry, there are mini implants which can support dentures and means the denture is not so big, so gagging does not occur. this is not as costly as conventional implants. otherwise your only option is dentures. hope this is helpful.

I feel so sorry for you and the dramatic effect it has had on your life. I personally have had many dental problems but fortunatly for me i have had the treatment that i have needed. For me your lack of teeth would not be a problem. Its the person thats important and i would be happy to be in a relationship with a woman like yourself. I feel sure i am not the only man who feels like this. i hope this helps
