I’m 17 and want braces on the NHS, how do I go about this?

Q.
Hello Mark,  i’m 17 years old, I’ve never been happy with my teeth, I have always wanted braces, could I get braces off the nhs? if not how much would it be?

please help.

many thanks.

A.
I’m not sure about your eligibility for braces on the NHS as I do not practice any NHS dentistry. Try your local NHS health authority or dental practice and they could advise you.

The costs of braces really depends on many things. The type of brace, how difficult or challenging your treatment might be, the expereince and qualifications of the dentist carrying out the treatment etc..etc..

Best thing to do is to come along and have a thorough examination and consultation to discuss all your options and then you’ll have a much better idea of what’s appropriate for you and the potential costs

Hope that helps

Mark

Hi , i had my brace taken off last January and i wore my retainer throughout the year , but i went abroad on holiday this January and i left my retainer there , it took 2 months for me 2 get my retainer back and when i did get it back my teeth had moved slightly and my bite was off , my bite isn’t right still to this day , so i was wondering if i could get a second brace on the nhs as it isnt for cosmetic reasons i’m 17 by the way

I don’t think the NHS will pay but you could ask your dentist
