I want a tooth implant my NHS dentist cant do this

Q. I am looking for a tooth implant.Cost is not really the most important thing, although of course it is important s I am an ordinary person. The thing is, I was told by my regular NHS dentist (who said that she could not do it because of lack of experience), that I would need a sinus lift to make sure there is enough bone. Would a mini implant make this lift not necessary…and would a mini implant be as good as one on a sinuslifted base? And, can you reccomend a dentist who can be trusted? I live in Derbyshire and am wiling to travel even as far as London if necessary. Please will you email me the response directly as well as I don’t have regular access to the net. Many Many thanks.

A. The mini implant is much narrower than a conventional implant it is not shorter, Cases with restricted space in the sinus region are generally lacking hieght and thus the mini implant wouldnt help to solve the problem. Also at the back of the mouth the biting forces are higher and generally larger volume fixtures are desirable.
Some manufacturers produce short fat implants for this region. Bicon is one example I have used.
For patients having implants close to significant anatomy such as the Sinus we recommend a Cone Beam CT Scan , It produces a 3D image of the jaw and answers some of the questions that you are asking
If you would like to arrange a no obligation free clinical consultation with a dentist contact me as below. You can then decide on whether to spend £300 on the Scan. We are based in Central Birmingham a 2 minute walk from New St Rail Station.

Hi am having 2 shorter implants without need for a sinus lift on one side of my upper jaw, I paid 125 quid for the special xray at Dental Care Plus in the South West, in Bradley Stoke, Bristol (Dental Implant Centre); I have to have a sinus lift on other side next year in order to have a dental Implant on that side as bone has deteriorated/dissloved, hope this helps 🙂 Oona

hello there i would really, really like to have a full set of gold teeth, and just wondered if tht was possible with implants? I guess i could just get crowns but I feel that implants would last a great deal longer and look better. What do you think? and im guessing itll be VERY expensive, but could you give me an estimated cost? thanks very much and help you can give would be really great.

Hi. If you have natural teeth present then I would recommend crowns. Implants are the last treatment option available and having your own teeth is the best option. The cost really depends on the number of teeth involved. I hope this helps.

My 12 year old daughter has just seen an orthdontist , who has said that one of her adult teeth has no root , which he did say was quite rare. He has now referred her to the dental hospital for their opinion , will they be able to save this tooth , as she is now panicing thinking that she is going to have a false tooth put in. Many thanks. the tooth in question is next to the her main front teeth .

This is really getting me down and affecting my self confidence. help.

Dear Enquirer, Dental implants are one solution for a missing tooth and they are not available under the NHS, so you are not being discriminated against. Do read up more about this treatment on this site and ask your dentist for a quotation. Regards,

Reply to Kiana; change your dental practice, find someone else and ask then for a fixed bridge on the front as a bridge is very successful on the front; there are 2 types; a Maryland bridge which is a false tooth with wings on the back which are glued to teeth on either side at the back of them; or a 3-unit bridge which works by three crowns fused together and the middle one covers the gap (teeth on either side are filed down a little and crowned); it should be covered on NHS but it varies from dentist to dentist; if you pay is still alot cheaper than an implant; good luck hope this helps, but CHANGE YOUR DENTIST NOW !!!! He/she sounds dodgy 🙂

I wonder if you can help? I have had 3 Bicon implants for 2 years now and 2 of them have come loose. I have of course seen a dentist but he now only deals in screw type fitments and mine are not the screw system. Do you know of cases where implants have come loose or out and do you have a suggestion of a procedure that can be done to solve the problem? Unfortunatley my dentist who fitted the implants has returned to Australia and although the surgery has a replacement he does not do Bicon and has tried to tap the teeth back in whiccch worked for a few days, But have now come loose again. Hope you can help? Regards

Implants are used for people with missing teeth or for replacing teeth that require removal They still need regular maintenance and care from a dentist. My advice would be to speak to another dentist to find out all the options you have to improve your teeth as it might not be just implants that you need.

Hi Dental implants are not available on the NHS. If you wished this procedure then you would have to seek a private dentist.

I got my four front teeth knocked out 9 years ago playing sports. My original teeth were put back in and then eventually veneers were fitted. I have noticed over the past year my teeth becoming very loose and ‘wobbly’, my dentist has informed me that there are no roots left on any of the teeth. What would be the best thing for me to do next? An also how much it would cost to get implants fitted on theses four teeth? I am worried my teeth are going to fall out very soon.

I have gum disease. I have been treating for this about 3 years ago however, due to my absolute fear of the dentist and psychological upset it has caused to me i have been too afraid to go back. I am in my 20’s and my gums have now receded quite badly exposing a lot of my teeth (especially the front ones). I was told that when my teeth fall out the only option will be to have dentures! is this correct?

Larissa Says :

I would consider treatment with a gum specialist under sedation. If that isn’t successful them implants would be a better option than dentures

although i am only 23 years old i have been told that i need to have one of my front teeth taken out due to gum disease. I have an NHS dentist so the only things they can give me are a bridge, which i don;t really want, because my dad has one and it ruining the teeth next to it. I would really prefer to have an implant, but know that the costs can be quite high. Will i be suitable for an implant and would i be able to split the cost of it up so i can pay it off gradually? thank you for your help

I have been sufferign from periodontitis for many years. As a result, I have recently lost one molar on upper left (#17) and one molar on upper right (#26). I also have horizontal bone loss around many teeth. My questions are: 1. Is there a minimally invasive painless sinus lift procedure available? 2. is it possibel to have sinus lift procedure & implant placement at one sitting? 3. Is it possible to regenerate bone when there is horizontal bone loss?

Makenna Says :

There are different techniques for sinus lift and the best one is the one that works for your situation and in the hands of the particular operator. If you have a reasonable amount of bone I would place the implant at the same time- say 7mm height, that works well.
