I’ve found out I have a class II div 2 mal occlusion

Q. Hi there. Having done a little research into this, I’ve found out I have a class II div 2 (mal)occlusion. I’m keen to straighten my teeth but also to try and move my lower jaw forward a little, as it has a “weak” appearance in profile and gives me a double chin when I’m not even fat! I’m not sure how related this is to my teeth positioning, but it would be nice to try and tackle it. I’m wondering which methods are generally suitable for this tooth layout, and whether some might be more suitable for bringing my lower jaw forward, if that is indeed possible? Many thanks for your time.

A. Orthodontics can only improve the position of your teeth.  If as you suggest the overall problem is the position of your jaws you may need other orthodontic appliances to try to move your lower jaw .  This works best as we grow between 7-14 years old.  If this is not possible the only option may be surgery to move the jaws.
