I recently had a crown on one of my front teeth break

Q. I recently had a crown on one of my front teeth break off. My dentist told me there isn’t much she can do since the titanium post snapped in half and part of it is still in the tooth. I am wondering if there are any treatments or procedures that would allow a new crown to be placed in? What other options do I have aside from extraction of the tooth?

A. There are post retrieval sysems & tecniques to deal with this situation. The residual root is often rather thin and prone to fracture with a new post crown.
Roots can be sealed and left in place to maintain the ridge bulk. You can then put dentures or bridge pontics on top. However long term they do tend to decay / make the bridge less attractive. Subsequent work remedial work after bridge insertion is a problem
