I have two missing teeth is it necessary to have two dental implants for filling the gap in between

Q. I have two teeth missing, one extracted over 30 years ago and one three months ago, both on the lower right. The two teeth inbetween the gaps are healthy. My dentist has recommended an implant at the back for the recently extracted tooth. When I appeared content with the price he suddenly announced that I needed two, one for each hole. How do I check this, after all the second gap has been there so long and I dont appear to be bothered by this. £4000 is a lot to pay if you dont actually need it

A. Obviously it is better to replace both teeth but if cost is an issue then maybe just go for one for now, you can always do the other later
