I have lost all my teeth with gum disease how long should dental implants take

Q. I have just lost all my lower teeth due to gum disease. One dentist says i should have implants and then wait 4-5 months before having a bridge fitted another says he can do the whole procedure in one go. How do I decide?

A. There are a number of different techniques available to us to restore a full lower arch. Nowadays most implants can be used after 6 to 12 weeks following their placement – this is dependant on bone quality , grafting procedures etc. There is a relatively new system by Branemark that allows immediate placement of a bridge provided primary stability is achieved – the surgeon is guided using a stent made form a CAT scan.

I would recommend that you visit the web sites of Branemark and Straumann implant systems to get a better overview of the procedures.

Kindest regards
