I have been going to the same dental pratice for 40 years

Q. I have been going to the same dental pratice for 40 years and found their approach and treatment on the NHS excellent. A few years ago the dentist in chage of the practice retired and now there is quite a turnover of dentists and cosmetic treatments of various kinds are being advertised. I was advised at my last check-up that as i had so few teeth there was “noise” where my jawbone commects with my skull and therefore I need a denture for my lower jaw to lessen impact. Another dentist whom I visited briefly fifteen years ago because his practice was much nearer made a denture for the lower jaw but though I persisted with it for months it was so uncomfortable that I gave up wearing it. I am not aware at present of any discomfort. What would you advise in my case about looking into implants?

A. I would need to do a clinical assesment to answer the question. Implants are a great help securing dentures but they do require bone to anchor them in. It sounds like an interesting case.
Our Practice offers a free intial consultation to enquiries from cosmetic dentistry guide. I would be happy to outline specific options for your situation.
