i have a small white section of my gum so what is the best way to treat this?

Q. I recently notice that in the gums of my front four bottom teeth, in the inside part of my mouth i have a small white section of my gums. I have heard that warm water and salt helps this but I’m not sure. So what is the best way to treat this? Is this something that has to be treated directly treated by a dentist?

A. It sounds like you have calculus. You need to see your dentsit for a routine exam- who will advise you if you need to see the hygienist. Calculus is hardened plaque and is commonly found near a saliva duct- you have one under your tongue. Calculus can be kept at bay through regular brushing and flossing.
