I have a loose crown which needs to be re fixed can you suggest anything to help this problem

Q. I have a loose crown which needs to be re-fixed. The adhesive has failed but it seems that the two posts in my root filling are set at an angle which won’t allow the crown to be prised off. My dentist is concerned that forcing it might snap one of the posts and he has advised that I try eating toffees to work it free but if that doesn’t succeed he says he’ll have to cut the crown off. That will be an expensive job. I’ve tried the toffees, pulling and rocking the loose crown and that seems to have loosened it a bit more but it’s still holding firm. Can you suggest anything to help with this problem please?

A.

The advice given so far seems sensible for most cases. If the crown has not come away within a few weeks I would reluctantly divide the crown ( sounds better than cut off) and remove the two sections individualy.
