i had a root canal treatment in march would it be advisable to go ahead now with the crown

Q. I had root canal treatment in March, which should have been followed by a crown fitting. The instrument fractured whilst the root canal was being carried out. My dentist thought I should wait 3 months to see how the tooth was before paying for a crown. I haven’t any pain, only sensitivity when I drink hot fluid or floss between the tooth. Would it be advisable to go ahead now with the crown. Kind Regards

A. I’m not sure unless I’ve seen the x-ray, I would go by your dentist’s recommnedation. He might prefer the tooth to be completely symptomless before the crown is completed

Root canal treatment is done when there is no chance of tooth to be saved, and the patient doesn’t want it to be extracted although decayed. It is done to kill the vitality of the tooth and then filling it with mechanical components, and placing a cap over it.
The procedure involves the removal of the nervous elements of the tooth which have been infected or decayed already due to microbial action or any physical pressures.
