I don’t want braces to fix the large gap in my teeth, what do you suggest I do?

Q. Im 22 and i had braces for 3 years to close the large gap in my 2 front teeth This kept them closed for about 2 months and then it came back. I did have a retainer but it just kept making the gap bigger as they were trying to fix my bite at the same time. Im now back to having a large gap in my teeth again. I want this fixed but i dont want braces how can i do this? my gap is about half a cm. thanks,
A. You may be able to simulate closure by bonding filling or veneers to the teeth. See some previous answers for costs & the treatment sequence. Hope this helps Rob

my daughter has braces, and has for over a year,to fix gaps between her teeth, they are nearly due to be removed but at a recent appointment we were told that she needs a small operation on the muscle above top two teeth. this can be done at cost, but then there is a very high chance that the gap will re-open after paying £1600 for braces and £60 for operation, didn’t the orthodontist know this in the beginning who should i ask?

I would like to get cosmetic bonding for the gap between my two front teeth. The gap is about 0.03-0.04cm wide. My teeth are also discoloured. I read that the you can’t whiten the bonding. My front two teeth and my four bottom teeth are an odd shape too, they have like a wavy tip to it. Is it possible to get that fixed and how? Is it best to get my teeth whitened before doing the procedure and is my gap to big for the bonding to take place?

It is best to get your teeth whitened first before having the bonding done. You may need a little enameloplasty on your lower teeth wich gently removes the uneven tips of the teeth. A gap of 3 to 4 mm can be closed without a problem. Regards

I have gaps between teeth both upper teeth and lower teeth. its in upper 4 and lower 3 teeth. As far as i am aware, these gaps has developed in last 2-3 years and its expanding. I also have some crack in teeth. Is there any quick temporary solution to this problem or surgery is the only option? If so how much it costs? I have heard about teeth gap band. Does that help? I doubt that if i put band between 2 teeth then i will get gap other sides of teeth. Pls Help. Thank you

It sounds like you may need to see an orthodontist who will be able to close the gaps effectively. You do not need surgery. Regards,

Hi You could consider closing the gap with a series of invisible aligners cost is usually around £500 or you could consider 2 veneers cost varies between £550-750 per tooth. There is also the possibility of bondingncost around £250 per tooth.

I’m a 17 year old student and have been subject to orthodontic treatment for over 3 years now and still my teeth are considerably less than desirable, and with University looming,I was just wondering whether it would be possible for me to scrap the choice of orthodontics and opt for porcelain veneers instead as a long term solution? Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Yes this is an option although it might entail drilling down the teeth to make them look good, you should discuss all the options with a cosmetic dentist to see what they think would be best for you in the long term Regard

Apart from the very large gap between the front tooth, its big and embarrassing. I find it really difficult laughing or smiling out side in public. Its does not have to be perfect but i do not want people to make fun of me about my teeth any more. Please what can i do about it.

You may need to consider porcelain veneers to bond to the teeth, closing the spaces at the same time

You should consider veneers for the front teeth although you will need some preparation of the teeth
