i didnt know my dentist had prepared my teeth for lumineers

Q. Hi Dr. Caplan I started thinking of cosmetic dentisty for making my teeth whiter, for spaces at the front of my teeth & a jagged tooth. I went to the orthodontist first he told me that one of the risks with braces would be that he might have to remove one of my lower teeth since my upper teeth were slightly forward & may be pushed more back than my lower so i went to a dentist who offered lumineers. I went for a session which i thought was only going to be about consultation & measurement but it turned out that during the measurement the dentist had prepared my teeth (I found this out when i went home & felt my teeth were gritty so i called & was told that this was a reaction to his preparation). The problem is i cant afford to put lumineers on all the teeth that show up when i smile & if i only put on the ones he prepared matching my natural teeth color im scared that i’ll be stuck with the color of my teeth forever (which i understood from him at the time). If he hadnt prepared my teeth I would’ve have backed away from lumineers for sure. Now because of the preparation my mouth feels horrible, my tongue is being constantly grazed by the rough surface, is turning red & small ulcer has started forming & i feel terribly depressed. Please tell me what should i do? What else can i do for my prepared teeth other than putting lumineers? Can they recover on their own? Please help!

The first thing that you should do is speak to your dentist and voice your concerns.
