I am 62 yrs old is there any ways to over come nervousness?

Q. Hello. I am 62 yrs. old. I have a 3 crown bridge for many, many years. Approx. 2 months ago my bridge lifted out and since have been put back (barley) with temp cemet by my dentist. The problem I am told is that under my 3 crown bridge (which is located on my lower back left) is that only one tooth (which is not the center) has a little bit of tooth left above the gum and the other 2 are so worn down that there is nothing above the gum to secure the bridge any longer. The only solution I was told are dental implants, which I would need 2 extractions and 2 implants . I am scheduled for this week and a nervous wreck!!! I do smoke, which I told my periodontist. My fear (which is my largest) is nerve damage. I know the only other alternative is a removable partial denture. Honestly, I do not want that. I believe that the teeth that are going to be extracted and implants placed are # 19 and 20 (or there about!). He is planning to do the extraction and and implants in one day, and place “something” over that temp. so I will be able to eat. Is there anything you can share with me to make me feel more at ease. Thank you so much

A.

Dentists who are trained in implants learn to assess each situation very carefully.  Although no absolute guarentee( as with any surgery) can be made i am sure they will take every care possible
