How long will posts last before getting new bridge?

Q. Hi I had a four tooth bridge placed five years ago, and recently its become loosened, went to my dentist yesterday and she placed three posts and recemented the bridge!I was told I need a new bridge! How long will the posts and buildup last hold until I can get a new bridge?,
A. Posts are not the strongest restoration – I would look into having implants as long term the success rate is not high

I have a phobia of dentists, and because of this have not been to a dentist for about 30 years. I smoke and know that this has badly stained my teeth, I also have some plaque on them. I was wondering if it would be possible to have my teeth caped. My husband asked a dentist about implants for my, but it was too expensive. He mentioned capping them, and that he would have to check that the root was ok. How would this be done, and would it be possible to be put to sleep.
