How long should I wait after the dental root extraction before the implant could be inserted?

Q. How long should I wait after the dental root extraction before the implant could be inserted? I am a generally healthy 37 year old and the X-ray of the area was normal. Would a pregnancy be a contraindication for the procedure? Are Straumann implants a good choice? Thank you very much.

A. You should wait until after the baby is born. That should allow enough healing time. I use the Ankylos implant system but Straumann in the right hands, is good too

John Henry Says :

I had a dentist work on a root canal after which it became infected due to a fracture.
He recommended taking it out but I did not wish to go through that at the time and had a treatment of antibiotics until the infection subsided.
I have taken amoxicillan on and off every three months now for almost two years.
I want to have a post but was told that there had to be some preparation with pieces of my extracted tooth inserted into the root area.
This procedure was too expensive for me at the time and now almost impossible until I can raise some funds (approx $1,500 first visit and antoher $2K afterwards)

Can I have the tooth exctracted now and have an implant done later without compromising anything? I am afraid to conitnue with the antibiotics. The xrays show a darker area and I understand there might be some heart risks, etc.
Could you elucidate?
Thank you very much,
John Henry, Orlando
