Q.
Hi, Im 22 and have always sucked my thumb i have an over bite and its really geting me down, i hate smiling, i had the chance to have braces when i was 13 but turned them down now i really regret it, i really want to get them my teeth straight and was wonderin how i go about this?
A.
Dear Enquirer,
The first step is to book an appointment with a dentist/orthodontist who can assess you for the correct type of braces. If you are in the London area, you are welcome to book an appointment with me and I can go through all the options with you. My practice phone number is 020 8567 4344.
If this is too far a distance then do research someone more local to you and go ahead and book an appointment to start the process.
Regards,
Sunita

I was told as a teen a brace would never fix my overbite! To now see that professionals say that it can greatly distresses me as I have had to live with a hideous smile for years! I work with children and do not really want to be seen wearing a brace and with my wedding approaching I don’t have 18 months to wear a brace, so I guess theres no solution for me.

I am looking to have my top row of teeth straightenedbefore my wedding nextJuly (one of my lateral incisors is in front of my front incisors).I wouldlike to enquire about the cheapest method of straightening this if possible. Would I need to pay for an initial consultation? What would the cheapestcourse of treatment be? Thanks in advance

Hi, I have an “Open bite” the sides of my teeth touch, the top row slightly cover the bottom row but my top front teeth do not touch the bottom front teeth. and there is a small gap there enough just to fit the tip of my tongue through.. Is this something that could be corrected by Invisalign? Best Regards

I have been sucking my tongue for all of my 32 years and it has made my teeth protuded and unsightly. My teeth stick so far out that sometimes it takes a deliberate effort to close ,y mouth. My mouth itself has changed its shape too. I’m considering braces but I’m unsure as to whether the problem would recur. I would love advice on a device I can wear to stop my habit. Sometimes I suck my tongue in public and it is becoming embarrassing. I miss my beautiful smile and I am becoming very self conscious about my appearance.

Hi These are great questions and certainly ones that need to be answered before you make your final decision about which treatment option to choose To answer your question other than in a ‘hypothetical’ way I’d really need to see you in person so please come and have a consultation or find a good orthodontist in your local area to discuss your concerns Kind regards
