How do I find a good local cosmetic dentist

Q. Hi, How is it possible to find a local dentist with the knowledge and expertise for cosmetic dentistry. There are quite a few listed in the local area to me, but non with before and after web site pictures, but all say that have done “this sort of work before” Its a real concern as I dont want to just take pot luck.

A. Also be careful that the after shots are not photo enhanced & that the person your seeing did the work you are looking at.
Anyone can call themselves a cosmetic dentist you are best going on personal recommendation of people who have had similar work done. Thais is where we get most of our new ” makeover ” cases. Most associations can be joined without an entry criteria.

Sadly I am guilty of not putting enough photos on my site, its not easy to get good before and after photos that keep the exposures & view balanced for direct comparison. In your circumstances a testimonial from a similar patient might help.

I need extensive dental treatment [I am a 50 year old female] – I have several large gaps requiring at least 3 dental implants [I have two bridges on one side and a partial denture on the other] and all my teeth require veneers/caps, and my front teeth are worn out due to grinding. I am unable to eat properly on both sides due to loosened caps/ill-fitting partial denture. I am looking for a sympathetic dentist who can bring back my smile, help improve my bite and confidence. I live and work abroad and will be in the UK for a short period during August. Is it possible to get extensive treatment in a short period of time. I visit the UK several times a year but would like at least the front teeth sorted out and implants placed and then can revisit for further treatments. What sort of cost will I be looking at for extensive treatment.

Thank you,

MS R J

I am 60 and have a complicated dental history. I have had x2 apicetomies which ended with me having the tooth extracted. I have a bridge which my dentist says will not last much longer. I have an appointment at the Denture & Implant clinic in Carshalton Beeches soon. Can you tell me if they are ok to use? I couldn’t afford the dentist she referred me to. I was going abroad, but my dentist was furious and said no-one here would treat me afterwards. I would be grateful of your opinion

Don’t worry….you do not need to go ahead with any treatment with any dentist unless you are totally happy with the way they treat you, give you options and make you feel comfortable that you will get the results you deserve. I do not know the clinic mentioned, but go for a consultation and see what you would like to do after that. Regards,

You should go and see an experienced cosmetic dentist who can also advise you on all your treatment options and to get an opinion and some estimates as soon as possible. It’s impossible to quote you or even advise if certain treatments will work for you without first examining you and your situation and your dental health
