Has teeth whitening given me craze lines?
Q.
Dear Dentist
Dear Dentist
I had my teeth whitening in house using 27% Hydrogen Peroxide about 2 months ago. I noticed I have craze lines since. Can a high percentage cause crazing?
Also can you feel crazes in teeth because I can hold ice in my teeth and literally go straight from hot to cold nicely and eat nuts etc? But sometimes in the wind Ill breathe then Ill wet my teeth after and they tingle/burn. Is this a sign of cracked teeth or just sensitivity? As I feel I have damaged them now due to the whitening?
Regards
A.
Dear Enquirer,
Teeth whitening is extremely safe when carried out by a dentist. The whitening is a gaseous process and cannot cause crazing in your teeth…often if there is some variation in your individual teeth colour, this can be exaggerated when the teeth are whitened.
You certainly will not have damaged your teeth because of the whitening procedure, but you must seek the professional opinion of a dentist to assess the reason for sensitivity.
