Does Having Sjogren’s Disease Affect Me Having Dental Treatment?

Q.
Hi Dr. Butt,
I have sjogrens which is an autoimmune disease that causes dry mouth and other things. The problem I am having is that my two front teeth have chipped and are now decaying so I would like to know what can be done to restore my teeth. I also have my front bottom teeth that have chipped and broken off that need to be replaced also.
I don’t know if I need to get dentures or if I can get them capped or a bridge. I have no insurance so this would be out of pocket, so how expensive is it? Could I also do the front teeth first? Any advice would be great, I’m just looking for some general comments so I know what to expect when I decide to visit my dentist. Thank you very much for your time.

Hello and thank you for your question. There should be no reason why crowns or fillings cannot be done if there is enough tooth left and the decay is not too extensive. You will need to ask your dentist about costs. I hope this helps.
