Do you know what could be causing the pain when I bite down?

Q. I recently (4 weeks ago) had a crown and veneer fitted on my front two top tooth for cosmetic reasons. The crown is fine and feels like a normal tooth but the veneer is painful whenever I bite into hard foods. It feels like a shooting pain from the pressure of biting into the food. I went back to my dentist and she said she didn’t know what was causing this but I’ve seen on the Internet it may now have to have a root canal treatment and a new veneer which I really cannot afford. It’s not to do with the bite alignment I don’t thin as that feels fine. Do you know why this might be happening and what might causing it?? Many thanks.,
A. It depends on what was wrong with the tooth originally but it does sound as though you may need a root canal treatment . Usually the veneer does not need replacing as the root treatment can be carried out through the back of the teeth
