Do I need to get a root canal done on a teeth that should be crowned

Q. Hi, I have two root canals on my front teeth which have of course become discoloured I am going to have them crowned. Now my question is my other front tooth, it is healthy but as I call it “bucked” all my teeth are straight other then this one. I was thinking about crowning it but my dentist told me it must be root canaled first, I hate the idea of killing off a perfectly good tooth for cosmetic reasons really. I’m worried that later on I will be regretting this. My other two teeth had to be root canaled due to poor dentistry, I’m alittle worried I really want to keep my teeth : ). Any info greatly appreciated thank you for your time.

A. Hi, you are a wise person. All treatment carries a risk and you should only undertake optional treatments if you are happy with the level of risk / comprimse involved.IN some cases moving the tooth using clear braces might be a solution but cost, time to treat and the need to stabilise the position for very prolonged times might be unappealing.
I would be happy to give a free 15 minute consultation at the StJohns Dental Practice in Birmingham, we are 1 minute walk from New Street train Station. Call amy 0121 643 0610.

Thank you for the reply Dr. Tennet! I agree after some long thought about it I have decided to leave the tooth alone until it needs to be dealt with. I had seen the braces you mentioned at the Dentist but never thought to ask him about them, I will on my next appointment with him. I guess the tooth adds character as all my friends and family feel the same. I would love to come in for a checkup but unfortunately it would be along distant for me to travel as I am in British Columbia, Canada but thank you for the offer.

Again Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, that is all I needed to complete my decision.
