Do I need gum surgery

Q. Hi, I have had root canal treatment on my front upper 1 and 2 teeth. These teeth are now discoloured.Upper 1 left is a crown(done abroad). This crown is too thick and too big, it goes high into my gum, it`s bigger than my teeth. I have small teeth. Now I`m having crowns put in. The dentist suggested gum surgery to get my front 4 gums to the desired lenght, and than having the crowns placed. I dread the thought ot having gum surgery. Is there any other way out of this? Please note that I`m 25.

A. If the gum above one tooth is higher than the other then the only way to even this out is to have the gum corrected by a Periodontist.

At my Clinic i have a laser which can alter gum lengths, but only  very minimally. You may want to consider having a consultation at a Clinic with a laser to see if this is an option but is the gum level is a substantial amount higher then gum surgery is the best option.
