Daughter’s veneer crown fell off

Q. My daughter had 22K worth of dental work done in Dallas 5 years ago. Her porcelain veneer crown just to the side of her front teeth just fell out. Is this normal? Is her dentist obligated to fix it after this much time? She now lives in Boston. Even sharing the bill among three people was still enormous; we’d expect it to last. Are we expecting too much?

A. Hi many thanks for your enquiry, dental veneers are good long term restorations. however the unexpected does sometimes happen and veneers are after all thin slabs of porcelain. the life span of veneers are 10 to 15 years. most good practices do guarantee there veneers between 3 -5 years. your best option would be to call the dentist and see his thoughts on the problem. he may comprimise and just ask you to cover the laboratory costs. hope this is helpful.
