chould i have a crown veneer or a filling

Q. My 2 front teeth have been filled at the back -one more than the other. a filling came out recently and my dentist refilled . The teeth are slightly discoloured . Crowns have been recommended -1 as necessary and the other for obvious cosmetic reasons. My dentist has said that, because of the fillings, the teeth are thin and would not he would not recommend veneers? Opinion/advice please since crowns seem a drastic step Thank you

A.

Usually when a tooth is heavily filled a crown is required due to the weakness of the tooth.  It may be an option to do a crown and a veneer onthe less filled tooth

Is there a difference between porcelian veneer and porcelian crown?

Hi Zackary, a veneer is almost like a false finger nail that sits on the front of the tooth. A crown wraps all the way around the tooth. Hope this has made things clearer for you.
