I’m Unhappy With My New Implants,Should My Dentist Alter Them Because I Am Not Happy With Them?

Monday, January 7th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have had an implant in my UL 1 and a connecting bridge to my UR1. I had the fitting on December 20th 2012 for the first time and am not happy with the overall appearance of them. the front surface area is too rounded for my liking and I would like them flattened of.. also the ‘v’ between the 2 teeth is very high giving the appearance of the 2 front teeth looking very block like! I have asked my cosmetic dentist for these changes to be made as I am not happy and have payed 9,000 pound for the smile I wanted. he has refused me on the basis that he thinks they look fine. I am in belief that if I am not happy and the work can be done then it should be?

How can I wear dentures when they are so painful?

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012
Q.

Dr Hughes, due to having no back teeth, I have a problem with my jaw and after 3 sets of dentures find it impossible to wear them. I am being fitted with a gum shield for night usage. I do still have my own front teeth top and bottom. I suffer from severe jaw pain and I’m on painkillers every day. My own dentist thought implants would be fitted but the hospital is trying out the shield. How would this help me to wear my dentures as I also have a gagging reflex so I am worried about this. Can you help me to understand this? What road would you take as my dentist in this? Thank you.

Can I have dental implants instead of dentures?

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012
Q.

I have upper/lower dentures I got them last year in November (never wore them they make me talk funny can’t eat and always sucking up) Can I get these changed to implants instead? I don’t like how they make me suck in and I don’t like the adhesive glue the lower ones hurt so I have been eating with my gums for a year now they are a little tender. I need something that is not going to make me feel uncomfortable, smile better and allow me to eat comfortably without worrying about them coming a loose or coming out.

Why has my gum receded after dental implants?

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012
Q.

I have recently had dental implants fitted problem is that immediately after having the crowns fitted my gum receded above one single implant. Now I have the abutment near the gum line clearly visible I am worried that this may cause additional problem in trying to keep the area free from bacteria is there anything I can do to remedy this? I have heard about gum grafting is this a possible way to go?

Can I get a dental implant to replace my tooth?

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012
Q.

Hey Dr Mark Hughes,

I am 23 years old and have a fang above my left tooth which I’ve had for about 8-9 years. The tooth underneath I believe is still a baby tooth that got jammed and didn’t come out. I haven’t been to the dentist for about 6 years but when I went the last time I refused to get my bottom tooth taken out as I didn’t want to have the gap. I am now looking to put this right but still feel the same way.

I wanted to see if it would be possible to get them both removed and a dental implant put in afterwards? If so would it be a costly procedure?

Thank you very much for your time, it is very kind of you.

John.

How long would a mouth implant procedure take?

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012
Q.

I have a small mouth with a high palate. I have several broken teeth and a phobia for drills. I had a very bad experience at a dentist several years ago and have only ventured near if it was an absolute emergency since then. I have no problems with any other treatment like injections or extractions. I also have type 2 diabetes and am classed as morbidly obese ( 5 feet 1 tall and 15 st 7lbs) . I would need full mouth implants. Is it possible to have a general anaesthetic or hypnosis and roughly what would this treatment cost? Also how long would it take for the whole procedure?

Will having diabetes affect me having dental bridges?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012
Q.

I need to replace to dental bridges on each side of my lower jaw. The teeth will need to be pulled and I would like implants. How often do people need bone grafts and what is the additional charge for bone grafting for each new implanted bridge? Also I am type ! diabetic my last A1c was 6.8 is this going to cause a problem? Would you advice I only do one side at a time to see if the implants take rather than both sides at once. My other consideration is mini implants or implants to support a partial bridge, is this a bad option? I would like not to have clasps as I do not want to damage any more teeth. What would you advice, so stressed as I don’t know what to do and how much to expect.

Would I benefit from have a dental implant procedure in the future?

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012
Q.

I’m trying to decide whether or not to have a root canal done on tooth #32, or to have it pulled and possibly have a dental implant done in the future. What are the cost comparisons, benefits, etc., to having one or the other. I have had several root canals done in the past. At my age of 50+, I really need to weigh my options. Root canals can be expensive but I’m not quite sure how much a dental implant will cost me. I have dental insurance that will cover half the cost. I just need some professional advice. I am really leaning towards having it pulled since it’s all the way in the back of my mouth. Please advise.

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012
Q.

Hi I have 7 up back tooth missing and 6 down back missing. I had gum disease and so tried denture but they didn’t work for me and I got sick every time I put them on. What can I do to get dental implants? How much does it cost? I lost all my confident and dont smile anymore because my front teeth are of different sizes and they have gaps and i noticed the gap is getting wider. My kids nicknamed me goofy. I have been trying to save some money to fix this problem but i think its very expensive.Would I qualify for NHS treatment? I am 38 years old?

Am I suitable for a dental implant?

Friday, June 1st, 2012
Q.

Hi there, I have just returned from the dentist where i was meant to undergo a replacement crown, as my original one was 15 years old and was starting to have gum recede.
After a long time in the chair of removal and drilling and xrays, my dentist told me that there was something on my sinus something or other, (sorry)
At this point he started apologising that he had misinformed me, and that i would now no longer to be able to have a crown because it probably wouldnt hold.
I started crying and was told i could have a denture, bridge or inplant. What i was wondering, what would you advise me to do. Im only 40 and it is tooth b1 so i dont want a denture for obvious reasons, or a bridge because it would entail damaging already healthy teeth.
Would i be allowed to have an immediate post extraction inplant placement. I feel very upset and quite traumatised at the moment. Your opinion would be most appreciated. By the way, he put a temporary crown in place for now. Thanks.
