Why will my implant treatment require two stages?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010
Q.
Hi Rob, Im getting an inplant done for a missing top front tooth, my dentist wants to do a two stage procedure, Im wondering why its neccessary for a two stage, and why i cant have the permanent crown put on the implant after the first healing time of the gum.? Is this something to do with asthetics and the gum moulding around the temporary tooth? I wonder why the gum cant naturally heal around the final crown. Im due for the surgery on thurs so a reply pretty soon would be great, thanks.

Friday, June 18th, 2010
Q.
I had a root canal 2 years ago after an injury, but the dentist did manage to remove all the root and it become infected, and it took two further attempts to remove the root. I changed dentist after this, as I didnt feel confident with this particular surgeon. I later had further infection and was treated with antibiotics, and my new dentists suggested I go back to my original dentist, which I wan’t happy to do. I have pain and sensitivity when I have hot or cold drinks and try and bite into things. I have had further antibiotics but nothing has helped. What are my options?,

Friday, June 18th, 2010
Q.
I just had a new permanent bridge and crown put on the upper left side of my mouth (with tempoarary cement). The problem is that when I bite down, the teeth on the left side don’t touch. It’s like the bridge is a little too shallow. Can a little material be added to the bridge so that my bite will be even on both sides again?,

Can my dental bridge me reduced in size?

Friday, June 18th, 2010
Q.
I have just had a bridge fitted to replace a missing front tooth. This was removed by my dentist and I was given a badly made, poorly fitting denture (without any real consultation). I couldn’t live with either the appearance of feel of this and the dentist then fitted a bridge. Unfortunately, the ‘teeth’ are too long and protrude. Can the bridge be reduced in size or is a new bridge required. I am at the end of my tether with my current dentist and would appreciate some advice I can trust.,
