Is it okay to have cotton swat in tooth without covering?

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010
Q.
My dentist had given me the first part of my root canal, no infection but was in pain due to tooth trama (back molar) , anyway, my tooth and nerve were aggrevated so bad that I had a lot of drainage, so he only covered with a cotton swab and i go back on Monday, this was done Thursday. Is it ok to have a cotton swap in the tooth without a temp covering? I was told if I had a covering that gas could build up and i’d be in more pain until it was finished. Also, can bacteria build up on the cotton swab and cause toxic shock syndrome if the same swab is left for a few days? thanks!,

Q.
Hi, I am 22 years old and have included a photo of my teeth http://i48.tinypic.com/2cxj24p.jpg as you can see they are in very poor condition. I was wondering what could be done if anything to correct something of this severity. What price range am I looking at, and what sort of treatment?,

Hi, i had an accident when i was younger. My tooth front teeth were damaged one died about 5 years ago and i had root canal. The other has now died and the previous root canal has failed my dentist has advised me that the success of the root canal again is slim but apart from that i dont have many options. Crown feel liks it has moved and bite feels wrong – any advice?

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Q.
I had some cosmetic work done on my teeth in November including the fitting of 3 veneers and 3 crowns. I have been experiencing problems with the new front crown (which is a post crown and had resulted from an injury 35 years ago when I lost the tooth in an accident) the same crown had been in place since then. The tooth next to it was fitted with a veneer, the new crown I have now discovered is all porcelain. I learnt this on my return visit to the dentist when it was causing discomfort and the bite wasn’t right. I returned twice more before Christmas because the bite was still not right and I was experiencing discomfort from the new crown. Finally in despair I visited another local dentist – I live in Devon who was recommended to me because he specialises on bite issues. He took a layer of the porcelain off the back, which has relieved the discomfort in that tooth no end. The veneer next to it is still catching though so I am going back to him this week. I now wish I had never had the original work done and had kept my original crown which had caused no problems all those years. Sorry for the long email – will get to the question! It feels like the new front crown has moved – is that possible? If I came up to the Mulberry – when the weather clears – would you with your bite machine be able to tell me whether the bite or where the bite is off and also check whether the new crown has moved? Many thanks,

What is a cheap way to treat discoloured and misaligned teeth?

Friday, January 15th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I am a 20 year old college student and since middle school, my teeth have been severely discolored and unaligned. Everyday I wish for a better smile, but I always come to the conclusion that this is how mother nature made my teeth look. I want to live confidently knowing I have a beautiful smile so now I am seeking any way possible to achieve this. Unfortunately, veneers and lumineers and braces are all very expensive. Where can I found an inexpensive, beautiful, and happy smile?,
