I have worn a denture for 30 years and need bone grafting

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
I have worn a top denture for over 30 years, recently I having implants or a implant supported denture, I went for an x ray and was told because of the loss of bone I would need to have a bone graft this sounds like a long process and I would not be able to wear my denture for about one month, so it looks like I am going to be stuck with dentures and fixative, the dentist told me that even this wont be an option in about five years because there will be no bone or suction left for dentures to remain stable is there any solution you could advise me of?

How can I slow down badly receded gums that are affecting my smile

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I’ve noticed that in the last 6 months my gums are becoming really badly receded and it’s really beginning to affect my smile and the appearance of my teeth. I have always had a problem with receding gums but I can really notice it now. Is there anything i can do to slow this down or cosmetically change this from happening?

I have one tooth holding my denture do I need implants

Thursday, May 1st, 2008
Q.
I presently wear upper dentures- only two back upper teeth were holding it up. However, about a year ago I lost one of them and it seems I am about to lose the other. What steps should I take if I lose that one other tooth. I will have nothing to hold the denture in place. Should I now get implants surgically implanted in top. Please advise.

I have a severe overbite will invisalign work

Thursday, May 1st, 2008
Q.
I had traditional metal braces as a teenager to straighten my very misaligned teeth. I am now in my late 20s, and have developed quite a severe overbite in the past few years. I am really reluctant to wear metal braces again but would like to correct this forward drifting of my teeth; would invisalign be suitable to realign my teeth? I appreciate that you have not seen me, but would you be able to give an estimate of the time it might generally be expected to take to rectify this type of problem? On one website I have read, it gave an estimate of four months. Considering I wore metal braces for eighteen months, this seems a very short time in comparison. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Thursday, May 1st, 2008
Q.
Hi, i know it’s very difficult to offer advice without seeing a patient, but can you tell me is it possible to correct a cross-bite with an inman aligner? I would then like to have veneers fitted but i have been advised that veneers are not possible at the minute due to my minor cross-bite…. Many thanks in advance, P

My dental crowns are much longer and wider rthan my teeth

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008
Q.
I have visited a dentist to have cosmetic dentistry – to whiten my teeth and replace teeth at the front of my mouth that I am unhappy with. At present I am in the process of having my teeth whitened at home. Whilst I have seen a model of the proposed crowns, and am being recommended to go to the lab and discuss these with the technician, they are much longer and wider than my present teeth/crowns. This may be the right thing to do, but I have previously had bad crowns fitted which looked terrible, and I really want to have beautiful teeth that I am happy with. I have not received anything in writing and am becoming a bit concerned that I could end up with yet another expensive mistake. I may be being overly concerned, but I really would rather ‘see’ how my teeth would look before I go through an irreversible process. Can you advise? Thank you

I want the best natural looking dentures but have no money for implants

Friday, April 4th, 2008
Q.
My dentist told me today I have no other choice but to have a full top denture I am so depressed and have cried all day What would be the most natural looking and best denture to consider. I am only 35yrs old I have always had beautiful teeth but due to being a single mother of two boys when I have grinded and broke my teeth from this and not having the money to fix the broken tooth it has then resulted in getting it pulled.

I wish I could get implants but I know that is a dream I will never get due to getting the things for boys they need which comes first. I have never been so depressed getting such news it seems so unfair I work hard but because I am not rich I have to look like a old lady and can’t even eat my food. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am sorry I wrote so much I am just upset about all this. But If I do have to have these dentures I want natural looking ones.
