What treatment can I haev for crooked teeth?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Q.
I am 28 and never could afford a dentist. I have a few crooked teeth, no room for them to grow so they kinda turned and point out. I never smile. I dont know if braces would help or if I’m looking to have them all replaced somehow.,

Can teeth with veneers and crowns be straightened?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Q.
Hello, Would really appreciate some advice as I live outside of the UK. I’ve had rather alot of work done on my teeth. I used to wear a wire brace when I was younger to bring in my eye teeth. (UK) Since then I had lost a tooth on my upper right, 2nd back from my eye tooth. As a result I have a gap which isn’t too noticable but my centre line from my front teeth and teeth next to the gap have moved to the right an slightly in the way. On my upper left, I have had crowns and a bridge as a result of my molars breaking from previous grinding.(Belgium). I also had lovely porcelain veneers on my upper front 6 teeth about 10 years ago (in UK). I’m now in the process of getting old mercury fillings replace to white porcelain inlays here in Belgium. I have slightly larger than average teeth but not unsightly. I’m still unhappy with my smile as I find that they are going more to the right, off centre and the upper front left 3 teeth are slightly more buck teeth than the left due the gap on the right. I feel this could be sorted out with the 6 month smile..? Or some kind of brace..? Even though my dentist thinks they look great..but knows they are off centre but won’t offer any solution. I feel after the birth of each of my 3 sons births during the last 5 years, my teeth have got more off centre and buck on the left! With all of the above, my question is can teeth with veneers, crowns, still be straightened without tension that would ruin the veneers. My confidence has been down re my smile for years.. Please just let me know it’s possible without redoing everything again?!!,

Would braces be suitable for me?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr.Caplan, I am hoping you can give me some advice. About 8 years ago I had my teeth straighted, and about 2 years ago I had the fixed wire on the back of my teeth at the top removed, as I have a tight bite and it was rubbing off the fixture. Unfortunately my teeth have started to move again, and I am not sure how to fix it. I think it is one tooth at the back pushing the others but I’m not sure. Do I have to get the wire at the back fitted again, or are there any other options? I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks very much, and best regards,,

Can I get help for relapsed teeth?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I was told by my dentist when I was about 11 that my teeth were too big for my mouth and I would need braces. my top and bottom front teeth had begun to overlap. I saw an orthodentist and had 4 teeth extracted from the top and bottom at the back on each side I then wore a retainer for a while and went on to a fixed brace after, for about 18 months. My teeth started to overlap again about a year later and now i’m 21 and dont know what to do to straighten them. I’ve changed dentists since I had my braces as they had closed the surgery and have had trouble ever since finding a denist who will sit down for more than 5 secs and talk to me about it. Please could you advise me on what sort of treatment I would need for this problem and if theres a way that wouldnt cost me thousands of pounds that i dont have. Thanks,

Is clicking sound possible nerve damage?

Monday, January 18th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Caplan!! First of all, I would like to thank you for your time! My question concerns my left lateral incisor: this adult tooth randomly shifts. This has been going on for several years now and I’m only 18 and get told by doctors that I have very good teeth, so it is not gum disease. It shifts for a couple of days, then stops for a couple of hours. It goes back and forth and up and down. The problem is that it is not exactly visible to the naked eye but I can most certainly feel it. I got braces two days ago and now the pull on this tooth is very painful, especially if I bite down on it. And after it is left alone for a hour, and I gently press it, I hear a faint ‘click’ sound. Could this be nerve damage? Please help me!! Thank you so much in advance!!,
