My root filling has gone wrong can I hv an implant replaced?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009
Q.
Upper right incisor. I have a crown on metal post from 30 yrs ago. The crown was replaced 15 yrs ago. My root filling has gone wrong, x ray shows the root filling to have moved. I am recommended to have a apicectomy with an endodontic surgeon. Would it be better to remove this root and have an implant?

Q.
I have been receiving treatment to have an implant fitted to a missing tooth. Each time I see the dentist the cost goes up. Would it be possible to come to your practice for a check up and estimate of the cost? How much will the visit cost me?

Can implants replace my dentures?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
Dear Rob, I have lost about half of my teeth. I had a set of dentures made up a couple of years ago, but find them impossible to wear, they are extremely uncomfortable. To compound this problem, all of my front teeth were damaged in an accident a number of years ago, and i have a habit of grinding what remains of them. The are becoming quite ‘threadbare’ and sensitive. I am also not in a position to fund the extensive dental surgery I would require to prevent further damage. I believe there are certain criteria that the NHS would consider adequate medical justification for funding implants, and I was wondering if a patient such as myself would fall into this group. Please advise. Many thanks,

Can infected implant be treated?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q.
My question is this, I had an inplant put in next to a 3part bridge. Unfortunately it did’t tak. A few months later we tried agasin, and again it didn’t take. As the second implant was being put in, I could feel my brain rattling and that is no exageration. I left the office and my whole right side of my face swelled up, to the point that I stayed in my bedroom for 3-4 days in the dark. I was on antibiotics and pain meds, but nothing helped. My doctor came in on a sun to see me and I didn’t have parmacy coverage so he gave me a left over antibiotic from his sons. Now my bride was damaged and cracked, and I had to have my teeth pulled due to such infection under bridge. Also my implant on left side is abcessed. What should I do?

Is dental implants the only alternate for braces?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q.
I have had numerous dental problems throughout my life. I did wear braces for about 6 years as a teenager..I am now 46 and my teeth have become buck again, which I hate. I have a hard time getting comfortable with a dentist and know I need other work as well. I do not think my teeth could hold up to braces again..do you think dental implants would be best solution for me? would they work if maybe I just got them on the 1st 4 fromt teeth?

Is an implant required after original tooth is removed?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q.
My upper back tooth had to be removed because it was cracked. My dentist and oral surgeon are recommending an implant. The reason is not for cosmetic purposes because it can’t be seen. The oral surgeon said an implant was necessary because the tooth below it would grow taller. But I still don’t understand the problem with that?? And I do have a tooth next to it with a large surface for chewing. I just had it pulled on October 16 so I don’t know what the comfort level will eventually be without an implant. My question is how important is it to have an implant on a tooth so far back and out of sight?

I need advise on my teeth problem and treatment costs?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q.
I am fed up with my teeth they are badly in need of alot of work.I am 33 years old and my teeth look like they belong to a 65 year old. I am missing my upper right central, my upper right lateral is very very loose now also the same applies to the upper left lateral, they can easily move with a little push.I think i need to remove these as well with upper left central and either get implants or a bridge. what would you suggest i do? Really need some good advice and also what kind of money would you be talking for each of the above mentioned procedures.

Would the tooth grinding adversely affect the implants?

Monday, October 26th, 2009
Q.
I am considering implants in my lower jaw as I have lost all the double back teeth. They were havily filled and all abcessed and I had to have them removed. I grind my teeth at night and in the day and wonder if this would have been a factor in my losing them to abcesses. I have had a mouthguard in the past but don’t use one now. Would the tooth grinding adversely affect the implants? Thank you
