Q.
I have been diagnosed with significant bone loss in my front teeth. My dentist wants to remove my 4 front teeth and supply dentures. As two of the teeth are not loose would a crown be able to be fitted and a bridge on the two loose teeth. He says bone loss is there in the two other teeth but they are fine at the moment and i would rather not have them removed

Is gold bridge the best option at my age of 71?

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
I experience a pain in my mouth where I have had a porcelan bridge for over 10 years. The dentist says I have a crack in the crown and that causes the pain when I bite down. He wants to replace the bridge with a gold bridge. After the insurance pays half of the cost I am still going to pay around $1500 for the gold bridge. I assume he intends to replace the existing crowns with gold crowns. I’m 71 I probably won’t be around for 10 years. I have a heart failure condition (stage I) and prostate cancer which is gowing very slowly. He says he strongly recommends gold because it will last a long time. The bridge I have now has lasted me over 20 years! I don’t get it. Why shouldn’t I get the same type of bridge I have now? How much cheaper would porcelan be. The gold is costing $3,000 (before 50% insurance is deducted) With the price of gold these days, it’s no wonder. If I were a dentist in this situation , I’d recommend the same bridge I have now, wouldn’t you? Please give me your comments

Bridge falls after 2 months

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
5 years back my two front teeth was broken off due to an accident. My doctor made a bridge using one tooth(drilled half one of my tooth) capping. But the Solution is not permanent after 2 months this bridge falls.I consult with one more doctor, he suggests me to go for one more drill on more tooth(other side)so that proper support to the bridge can be given. But I don’t want to undergo this treatment as I had to loose one more half tooth. Please suggest me the best treatment so I will not face such a worth situation in my life again.

Can I do something bout my bridge without replacement?

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi doctor, I’ve had a bridge for 25 years since I knocked my front tooth out as a kid. It’s porcelin and metal. I’ve always taken good care of it. Now the tops of the bridge around the edges are rimmed black. Is there anything I can do without getting it replaced, I have no dental insurance?
