Thursday, August 19th, 2010
Q.
hello, this is about my husband, about month ago started , pain and infection under one of his teeth that has bridge on it. his dentist drilled his bridge and filled it again through it. when my husband said to him about drilling he said this is a general practice which we have been told other wise …now question is : 1- is this the right way to deal with this matter or the bridge must have been removed before drilling into the infected tooth?,

What is a fair estimate for two bridges?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010
Q.
Should two bridges of two teeth next to each other on both sides of my upper mouth cost $4000.00? If not what is a fair estimate? They are the two teeth behind my canines on both sides. That was close to what they quoted me. Seems really steep for 4 teeth.,

I am having really bad trouble with tooth pain and my dentist might have made it worse. Should I seek a second opinion or continue with my current dentist?

Q.
Hello, I had my impacted wisdom tooth extracted 4 weeks ago and my molar tooth has been badly damage. The filling on the neighbouring tooth crumble according to the surgeons. I have been to my dentist to have another filling put in last week but have started having throbbing pain which resulted into an unbearable pain which i needed to go back my dentist in an emergency. The dentist i saw advised me to to have the tooth taken. I declined as the upper tooth directly rest on the damage tooth. The dentist suggested a denture, bridge or a crown. I liked the idea of a bridge or a crown but the dentist said putting a crown in might not be successful as having a root canal procdure can be difficult as the damage tooth is right at the back of my mouth and also the NHS wont cover a bridge since it’s not a tooth missing in the front. The dentist have been working on the root canal procedure and havent been successful with a and reckons she night have gone beyond the root and damage the tooth. Please i am in a dilemma and i need a second opinion what to do as i need a tooth to support the upper tooth otherwise it will down on my gum. Shall i see another dentist or carring seeing my dentist as i have been appointed again on the 26th August ’10? Many thanks,

My dentist said that a denture is my only option to address a dislodged tooth. Is this true?

Monday, August 16th, 2010
Q.
I have a bridge which is one front tooth a missing tooth then the next tooth forming my bridge. I have had this for some 37yrs. Last yr a had a blow to the mouth that knocked the middle tooth out of my bridge and dislodged the front tooth so it is out of line and slightly loose. My dentist has fitted me with a denture, which I hate and do not get on with at all. My dentist tells me this is my only option. i know it is difficult to have an opinion without seeing the problem, but do you think this could be made to look good and also feel good without breaking the bank. i look forward to your comments.,

I have had three consultations and I’ve been recommended different options concerning bridges and implants. Can you help?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010
Q.
I have a failing bridge which involves my ur1,2 and 3. UR3 needs to be extracted. I have been for 3 consultations for an implant to replace UR3 2 dentists have recommended an implant in 3 with a cantilever bridge on it to replace missing ur2. UR1 needs a root canal and a new single crown. However, one other dentist has said a cantilever bridge wouldnt be a good option as it could be too much pressure on the single implant over time, he insists 2 implants is better and would be gauranteed to last a lot longer. Im now wondering why the other dentists havent suggested two implants or is the third dentist just trying to make more money.,

My dental bridge has gaps in it and is leaking, what should I do?

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr Riten I hope you can help me. I have had a six bridge which includes crowns in the top front of my mouth for the last 25 yrs. recently there have been gaps between the tooth and gum on one or 2 teeth. My dentist has filled the gaps, but says that i need a new bridge as it is leaking. Can he not just take this bridge out and re cement it in again. I’m very confused and think i need a second opinion and the cost is working out quiet expensive. I look forward to hearing from you. ,
