What are the treatment options to fix a broken, dead front tooth?

Friday, January 28th, 2011
Q.

Hi There,
In the process of having my wisdom teeth out, one of my front teeth got knocked and with in a few weeks it was a dark Grey colour, i have been to a number of dentists, one which butched the tooth, drilling holes in and trying to bleach the dead tooth, which clearly did not work and left me with one black tooth with a lovely hole in, the other dentist has covered it with a veneer (which does the job but its not amazing and still stands out as discoloured) so now i am seeking more advise as it is bothering me again and would like to know what my options are and how much it is set to cost me.
any advise would be great.
Kind Reards,

What can i do about my concerns with my retainer now I have a new orthodontist owns the practice?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

Andrew, you recommended to me recently that I see my orthodontist over concerns that my teeth are shifting under my bonded retainer. However, somebody else owns the practice now and they won’t let me see him, even though I am happy to pay for him and he did the treatment for me brilliantly. Is this unfair treatment on me and what is the best thing to do? I highly trust this orthodontist and I am upset that they won’t let me see him even though I said I will pay. Can I complain?

Would it be best to have a crown to repair a chipped tooth?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

Last year I chipped my front tooth whilst drinking from a bottle. I have had the gap filled in but am not happy with the colour and finish of the filling. I have spoken to my NHS dentist about further treatment and the talk of a crown was mentioned. He explained that I may need to have some root canel done on the tooth because the chip may have damaged the nerves. I was basically wondering if to have a crown done on the private would result in a better finish i.e colour and shape, then to the NHS finished crown ? Is there a major difference if any in the procedure and materials used ?. Because the NHS dentist has done my fillings on the chip and adviced me that i may need root canel mean that I should stay with the NHS or would going private result in a better end product ?.My main aim would be to get a matching colour crown with the rest of my front teeth. Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you soon.

What treatment would you recommend for crowded teeth and overbite?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

I am 23 years old and have a very large overbite. I wore braces when I was in my teens n my teeth were straight for a while but now one of my front teeth is sticking out and sticks over my bottom lip slightly. My bottom row of teeth is slightly overcrowded but the top is a lot worse. What treatment do you recomend ? I dont think braces are an option now as they are too far out ? Would veneers work and if so would I still have a large overbite ? Please help I am depressed about this and would like to see someone as soon as possible.

How can I reduce the costs of my orthodontic treatment whilst studying in the UK?

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011
Q.

Hi!

I’m a student from Germany studying at University in England. I have been under orthodontic treatment since April 2010 in Germany due to a missing milk tooth. I have got braces on my lower teeth, trying to do an orthodontic closure of space. I would need to go for adjustment of braces every 3-4 weeks, but am being asked to pay a huge sum of money for every visit (around 140 pounds).

Being a student, I am unable to afford this, especially since I am also paying for treatment in Germany. Could you please advise me how to go about this and to possibly reduce costs. I also have a European Insurance, could I use that in England as well?

Thank you in advance and kind regards.

What are my best options to straighten my teeth, preferably as quickly and discretely as possible?

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011
Q.

I am 38 years old and had braces when I was 19. I wore my retainer faithfully for about 2 years, and was very happy with the outcome. Every month or so I would try on my retainer, and if it felt tight to get on, I would wear it for a week or so. I have noticed lately that my teeth aren’t as straight as they once were, and my retainer won’t even fit around my teeth. What are my best options to restraighten them – I really want something fast, and as invisable as possible – cost is not a problem.
Thanks you.
