Is six months braces is suitable or bridges for crowded teeth?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have severe overcrowding of my upper 4 front teeth. Recently i went to a dentist who suggested the six month brace, however i went to another dentist and she recommended that i have my four teeth extracted and a bridge put in place. This dentist said that the six month smile does not work on teeth which are severley crowded. I’m so confused, im not sure what to believe. I find i just get everyone building my hopes up and then getting blown out the window the next minute! (sorry just had to have a lil rant!) i would appreciate your opinion as to whether six month smile braces are suitable for severe crowded teeth and if not is bridging the next option? Many thanks

I hv holes on my teeth after removing braces Plz advice

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I would be very grateful if you could advise me. I am 47 years old. Two weeks ago I had the braces removed from my teeth after wearing them for 15 months. I had overcrowding on my bottom teeth and I felt that my teeth protruded on my top teeth. That was my reason for seeking treatment. One of the first things I noticed was that very soon after having the brace fitted my teeth became quite discoloured, yellowish in appearance. I consoled myself that I could have them whitened when the brace came off but was still worried. I told the orthodontist my concerns and he said that he had noted that my teeth were quite yellowish before he put the brace on but I am sure that the colour changed almost straight away. In particular around the gums about a third of the way up my teeth was quite yellow which I had not noticed before. I decided to wait until the brace came off to see if I could get them whitened. Two weeks ago the brace was removed and the bonded retainer applied straight away. He then cleaned my teeth very rigiously for quite some time. When I looked in the mirror in the surgery I was dismayed at the colour. Very yellow and matte without shine. He cleaned my teeth again with pumice and water spray. They looked better but without shine or vitality. Even now two weeks later the shine has not come back properly and the colour is not right. Also to my horror there were little holes at the top of my teeth where they meet the gums. The holes are each side of the tooth next to my two front teeth on each side of my mouth. Altogether I can see three holes on my top row of teeth. This is also evident on my bottom teeth but not so noticeable. The orthodontist didn’t mention this to me or let me know it had already happened. I cant remember seeing them in my mouth when the brace was in either. At the beginning of my treatment I remember him telling me that this can occur but he can correct it by shaving the sides of the teeth to make them closer together. I am so upset. I paid nearly £4500 for my treatment and didn’t expect them to look like this. I think the holes really age me and I am conscious of smiling broadly. This is a lot of money for me. I couldn’t say how disappointed I was to the orthodontist at the time when he first removed the brace as I was so shocked and I didn’t want to come over as criticizing his work. A few days ago I went back to the orthodontist to have an impression made of my mouth just in case the bonded retainer comes out (I think that was the reason for the impression). I mentioned my worry to the orthodontist about the holes but he only said that they may close on their own but unlikely. I am so disappointed. Surely he could have closed the holes during the treatment. I paid nearly £4500 and didn’t expect this to happen. Is it too late for me now. Kind regards

What would be the cost for cosmetic bonding?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi my front teeth are perfectly together, however there is a small gap at the outer edge of them between the next teeth. I was wondering how much (roughly) would cosmetic bonding cost to make them look perfect and also how long does it roughly take? ( how many sessions?) It is something that has bothered me for ages and it affects my confidence so I am hoping to get it fixed. Also i have moved to Uxbridge area of Middlesex, so are there any dentists that you know of who could recommend to carry out the procedure, although if required i wouldn’t mind travelling into London. kind regards

Should I go for 4 implants or invisible braces Plz suggest

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi, 6 to 7 years ago i had veneers privately done on my front 4 top teeth. i was pleased for the 1st year or 2 but over time they now look awful. i had braces for 4 years (not train tracks) when i was in my early teens as i had a large gap in my teeth and they pointed abit forward and made me look goofy, after time with the braces the 2 front teeth eventually crossed over so went from one extreme to another, i then had braces to stop the crossing and push them back, they soon became straight. after not having the braces on for about 2years i decided i wanted dental veneers as one of the front ones was badly discouloured and i thought they were to long! so i went ahead and had venneers as i said above i was happy at first but now the 2 front teeth have crossed again but even worst they point forward making my lip pertrude slightly!! i never imagined this would happen with vaneers but it has done! also i feel they have slightly come away from my gums with the movement and on close inspection you8 can see a gap and the very top of the veneers have a ruff edge and are black! i smoke around 8 day i realise this hasnt help, but they are now crooked, discoloured and come away from my gums, i really dont know what to do!! do you think 4 implants would be a good idea, i know it would vbe pricey and it very cliche of me to say but all i ever wanted was a perfect hollywood smile, i heard about the invisable braces but im not sure this would be right as i would still have to keep the veneers! please help!!! thanks so much in advance.

I m 28 Should I need to wear braces for overbite Plz advice

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I am 28 years old. I took my braces off 10 years ago after wearing them for 2.5 years (I also had 4 extractions 2 at the top, 2 at the bottom on the sides of my mouth). I wore my retainers for the first 2 years, and kinda just stopped wearing them after that. 10 years later…I feel I have an overbite. Please note, my teeth are very straight and I still get compliments all the time on my teeth. However, I am concerned. I went to see two orthodontists; one said i will need braces for 18 months, another said I don’t need braces, just a bite adjustment and a retainer. What should I do? I still feel I need braces for the overbite, but I feel the ortho is exaggerating the length of time in order to make money off of me. Please advise on what I should do? Also, if I have to wear braces, what is the average amount of time i would have to wear braces granted I’ve worn them before? Please help. Thanks!!
