Would a bridge be suitable for a tooth that is fractured and another that is deeply filled?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Q.

I am a 53 year old female. Have always taken great care of my teeth. Over recent years have been treated by my dentist and hygienist for receding gums. Visited my dentist yesterday with what I though was just a crack in one of my old fillings, only to be told that the tooth was actually fractured vertically. It is in my upper jaw and third from the back. I have a wide smile and it will definitely show if I have it removed. My dentist advised that it may last for a year, (he drilled out the old filling and repacked it)
He was less than helpful about my options and I left the surgery confused and shocked. My question is would I be better off having an implant or a bridge to replace the gap. One of the teeth that would be needed to support the bridge is deeply filled. Also a guide to how much this would cost would be useful.
Thank you very much for your time.

Is composite bonding aesthetically and durably the best choice when restoring chipped teeth?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Q.

My 7 year old bumped heads today with a classmate and one upper front tooth and two lower front teeth have been chipped. We have been to the dentist who has said it is only enamel which has been chipped and they are confident there are no fractures, The lower teeth are too sensitive at present to bond with composite filling – it will have to wait til next week. I cannot help but feel saddened that he has chipped his permanent second teeth, Is the composite material hard wearing, natural looking and the best option at present? I need a positive opinion on this if possible, thanks.

Q.

Hi, I am 27 and finally ready to straighten my teeth, My top teeth are straight except my lateral incisors ( I think they are called) they are slanted/crooked. The same with the 2 bottom except those 2 teeth are straight but alittle behind the rest. My question is what type of braces are recommended and for how long?

Are there any temporary solutions to fixing an old bridge?

Friday, November 19th, 2010
Q.
I have two bridges which are quite old (20 years) and am getting married at the end of December (very last minute). In the past year my gums have receeded and you can see some of the top of the bridge. I am worried about my photographs and I have very little money to have them replaced just now. Is there a less expensive solution which could tied me over until the new year when I could afford to have them replaced?

Is it advisable to have wisdom teeth removed following braces?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi I am a 25yr old male and have been wearing braces for seven months now and everything is going great. My orthodontist has told me that i will need my wisdom teeth removed when i get my braces off to avoid a relapse.however, when i brought this up with my regular dentist he advised me not to get them removed and said it was very controversial and that there was no proof of wisdom teeth causing a relapse after orthodontic treatment.I was just wondering if you would agree with my orthodontist or my dentist?Than you..,
