Q.
I’ve recently had treatment for periodontal disease which involved deep cleaning below the gum line and a rigorous daily cleaning regime. I took the decision to go to a private dentist because my NHS dentist seemed to have missed the problem completely. After years of having no dental problems I now seem to have a major problem which has so far been fairly expensive and quite depressing. Whilst the bleeding has stopped and my gums are in a far better condition I have lost part of the gum next to my top front two teeth and have suffered a general gum recession. Some dentists simply say that there is nothing that can be done to regain the gum, then I read about gum and bone grafts and am wondering if this is likely to work for me as I feel the loss of the gum is unsightly and I feel that there is movement of my teeth. I\’ve also seen adverts for an American toothpaste product called OraMD (www.oramd.com), in fact on this site there is a link. Is this product simply a scam or have you actually heard of it and would it be worth trying ? Any advice you can provide would be appreciated.
