my front tooth are smashed recently and i am very scared of dentist could you say anything

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Bohara… I recently fell and smashed my two front teeth. It was initially thought that both teeth required crowns, but upon further investigation one of them is so badly broken (in layers like an onion I’m told, above the gum line) that I’m going to lose the tooth completely and that an implant is my only option. I grew up in the UK and am absolutely terrified of dentists, have been my whole life so now as a 45 year old female, I’m now faced with what I consider the most devasting dental treatment imaginable. I had perfectly straight natural teeth prior to this and am worried because it’s a front tooth that it won’t be returned to the way it was as I also have to have a bone graft. I will opt for IV sedation but am having trouble getting my head around the fact that I won’t be asleep (I’d much rather be knocked out completely)-I don’t want to be aware of anything or feel anything. Can you offer any advice for me in terms of this being such a prominent tooth and also if I’ll feel anything. I appreciate how busy you are, but would be very grateful for for anything you could say to ease my mind. I would almost have rather broken my limbs than have this happen! Thank you very much for your time Dr. Bohara.

Q.
Hello, I know this may be a long shot, but I hope that you maybe able to help. I’m stuck in a position and not sure what to do, as I suffer from Depression/anxiety panic attacks I have a fear of going to the dentist. I never had a problem going to the dentist until I was 16 (1996)when I changed dentist, I was having treatment and was in pain but the dentist wasn’t polite with me. I didn’t go again till 2000, but in a different area, and again I came across the same problem. My teeth are in bad shape, the look cleanish, but I know they they are all bad. I was wondering if you could give me any advice on what to do. I am unemployed and claiming incapacity benefit, which I know that I will have to pay for consultation/treatment. Which I would need help with or a payment plan?? I would like my teeth sorted badly, but am afraid of dentist and find it difficult to find an understanding one. I live in Haslington in Cheshire. If you could help me in advice or anything, this would be very much appreciated. Many thanks

Monday, May 18th, 2009
Q.
I have recently become quite self concious about the bottoms of my teeth, some are quite jagged and bumpy and my top fron two teeth are quite long. Would filing be an option to get them straighter and would I need to see a cosmetic dentist or just my normal one?

i have lost a few teeth and lot have crumbled i want to get a nice smile how can i go about it

Monday, May 18th, 2009
Q.
Since having my son 6 years ago i have lost a few teeth and a lot have crumbled or are crumbling and leaving very unsightly gaps. i want to get a nice smile back but am unsure in how to go about it and what procedure to take. i have seen many dentists and have just been told that it may be best removing them if they get worse. can you offer me any advise on what would be the best thing to do as it is getting to the point where i just keep trying to cover my mouth up so no-one can see my teeth. thankyou very much for you time.

do you have any cheaper option other than invisalign for my huge gaps in my teeth

Sunday, May 17th, 2009
Q.
I am a 27 year old female. I have regular dental check-ups and really do try look after my teeth. However as a child, 2 milk teeth never came out as they weren’t replaced by adult teeth. So I still have them.(Quite impressive I’ve been told, I lived on a farm and drank loads of milk could be the reason I still have them) They are pretty healthy although one has now got a little cavity. The reason they have never come out is because I have bi-lateral canines set in my upper gums pushing ever so slightly on my front teeth roots. I have had advice from my dentist that they can cause cysts and need to be removed, but this leaves me with two gaps. A possible suggestion has been ‘Invisalign’ to pull my teeth from the back forward filling the gaps and straightening my teeth. However this costs about £4500 which is very expensive.Do you have any suggestions for me that are either cheaper and doesn’t leave me with huge gaps on my wedding day. Kind Regards

i just need to replace crows in your option what is the most natural colour for a 40 yr old teeth

Sunday, May 17th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have four crowns in the front of my mouth. I can recall the injections very well! (Felt like they were going through my gum, nose and into my brain). As most of the treatment has been done previously (20 yrs ago) and just the crowns need replacing (black gum lines) would the pain be less? And would the fees be less? Also i am thinking of buying my own bleaching kit from a recommended beauty agency. Do i complete this procedure first then visit the dentist to match the new crowns to the newly coloured teeth? In your opinion what is the most natural colour for a forty year olds teeth? Sometimes too white looks unnatural (TV news readers etc) Thank you.

my boyfriend still has his baby teeth what can be done to coax it out and can it be done in NHS

Sunday, May 17th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I hope you can help. My boyfriend is 25 years old and still has many of his baby teeth in situ. He pulled out a shakey one about 2 months ago but the one underneath -although just poking through gum- has not grown out properly. What can be done to coax it out so that he has no gap? If it does not grow out with time, what treatments are available & are they available on the NHS? He would not want to pay thousands of pounds to fix the problem. Thank you very much Doctor.
