my mouth is in very bad state my teeth at the back are rotten what are my best option

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
Im a 19 year old who is petrified of going to the dentist. the last time i went was in 2003. My mouth is in a pretty bad state, two of my teeth at the back are rotten(beyond repair in my opinion) some of my lower back teeth need fillings and im pretty sure i need a root canal as i am in pain. I am too embarrassed to speak to my parents about this and with limited funds. Finally, i would like to be sedated as much as i can as just the thought of the dentist starts to make me panic. what are the best options open to me?

is it possible to place an implant after bone grafting in my lower left second molar

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
I’m 1 31 year old female and (due to dental negligence) am likely to need my lower left second molar extracting. I’m wondering if it’s always possible to place an implant here – I’m prepared to have bone grafts and so on but I’m really worried that even with this treatment an implant might not be possible in this region. I’ll obviously have a consultation with a specialist in implant dentistry but, for now, could you let me know if an implant can usually be placed here (followig grafting etc). Many thanks.

Is grafting of the gum recommended when there is invasion of the biological width at one tooth

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Bohara, The dentist put just one crown from 22 to 27(fixed bridge). I was expecting six single crowns. He says is better like that without explaining. When is this kind of solution used ? 2. Is grafting of the gum recommended when there is “invasion of the biological width” at one tooth ? Can the pain in this tooth be explained by this retraction of the gum (the tooth had root canal done and the dentist who did it says everything is ok)? 3. When do you expect will see the first new grown teeth ? Five, ten years from now ? Thank you very much for your time. I am very impressed that you look so young and have such a curriculum vitae !

is it possible to have crown on 16 teeth to make my teeth stronger whiter and possibly straightened

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I’m 27 and I have a couple of broken teeth, a few cavities and I’ve noticed some movement in my lower middle teeth. I have whitened my teeth with whitestrips and carbamide peroxide gel (I stupidly used to swish it around my mouth for 15 mins a day) and I think my teeth are severely weakened. I considered getting a crown a few months ago when one tooth broke, but lately have wondered if it would be possible to get crowns on 16+ teeth, some top and bottom (i.e. ones that show), to make them stronger, make them whiter, and possibly straighten them out. Is this viable? I’m wondering whether especially the straightening part is wishful thinking on my part. Thank you in advance for your help.

I was diagnosed with juvenile perionditis and now ive receding gums is there any thing i could do

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I was diagnosed with juvenile perionditis almost 10 years back. I recieved treatment such as scaling and splints and my teeth are much more sturdy now and no sign of the disease anymore. A few Dentists have told me that I pretty much have no hope with the after effect of the disease which left me with alot of receding of the gums. I’m very insecure about my smile and it does effect me mentally. I was told i’m not a candidate for implants or bridges because of the significant bone loss…is there anything I could do??? fyi…i’m only 28!

Ive crooked teeth could you recommend a treatment that is more affordable than invisalign

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I’ve always had crooked top teeth (top front two are slightly further forward the the ones next to them and the canines are quite high and prominent) and one of my lower front teeth is set back – I’m desperate to get something done. My dentist recommended invisalign but I just can’t get my hands on the cash!! Can you recommend a treatment that is more affordable (but not visible) or where I could pay in installments? My teeth are really affecting my life – my smile is awful and I’m really conscious of it. Many thanks.

im considering a night guard how much do they cost and how can a dentist fix cracked tooth?

Monday, May 25th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Bohara, I think I have pretty good oral health but I’m considering a nightguard because I occasionally grind my teeth. I was curious how much they cost? I think I sometimes clench my teeth during the day and I have a slight overbite. I think I may have slightly cracked one of my front teeth as a result of this. I’ve looked in the mirror and did not notice any crack whatsoever nor do I feel any pain to pressure or sensitivity to hot or cold but I feel there may be a crack in the back of the tooth. I’m pretty sure of it. If there is a crack, how can the dentist fix it? Would he drill it out and replace it with some resin or composite or place a veneer on it? I don’t think it’s too serious as it’s not causing me any pain but it is annoying and I can sense it with my breath when I exhale. Can you please help me by offering me some suggestions or peace of mind? If the crack is in the center of the tooth can the dentist still treat it? Thank you very much for any response. Sincerely

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
Hello. I’d like some advice please. I have crooked front teeth and this is now affecting my life. I am embarrassed to smile and am very self conscious about it. I would like to know if veneers would be an option available to me and how much they would cost? I am also quite afraid of dental treatments and am afraid I may end up worse off. Please help.
