I’ve Broken A Crown. Should I Get A New Or Should I Consider Another Type Of Treatment?

Friday, May 16th, 2014
Q.

I would like some advice regarding my front tooth.

I have a front tooth porcelain crown which has fractured at the back & a piece has broken off. I have had this crown for 15 years.

Do you think I would benefit from having composite bonding & a veneer rather than a new porcelain crown?

Which is best to match my other teeth? My crown has discoloured slightly around the gum-line.

I welcome your advice & I would like to know costs please. Many thanks.

I Would Like To Have Two Teeth Pushed Forward. What’s The Best Procedure For This And How Much Does It Cost?

Friday, May 16th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark, I have 2 teeth that I would like to get pushed forward, one on the top and one directly underneath on the bottom row, on my left side at the front of my mouth. I was wondering what the best procedure would be for this and how much it would cost? How long it will take and all the other information about the treatment? All my other teeth are pretty straight, it’s just these 2 teeth I have a problem with, appearance wise. Thanks.

I Don’t Know What Treatment I’m Going To Get For The Gap In My Teeth And It Worries Me. Could You Tell Me?

Thursday, May 15th, 2014
Q.

Okay so, I am really nervous about what they are going to do to me and my teeth! This summer I am supposed to go to the dentists or orthodontists to see what they can do about the gap in my two front teeth. I am very nervous because I don’t know what I’m going to have to get. My gap is not super big but not very small maybe about 3mm? Anyways, I was wondering what they might do for me? I have heard of so many different treatments. The rest of my teeth are straight (as far as I can tell) so I don’t really care about doing anything to the rest of my teeth. Just the appearance of my two front ones. I have heard of braces, bonding, labial frenectamy or some weird thing like that? I don’t know if this matters but I do have a price of skin connecting my lip and my gums. I don’t know if other people have this too so I figured I would mention it just in case. I don’t think it is doing anything it is just sitting there.

Hello Mark. I Have Gaps Between Three Teeth And Would Like To Know The Cheapest Option To Fix Them?

Thursday, May 15th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I have gaps in my upper teeth that have been there for years. I’m 25 year old female and I absolutely hate it.
It’s embarrassing. I have gaps between 3 teeth of my front of my mouth and I’m just wondering what my best and cheapest option is please? I don’t have a lot of money but am willing to pay for them to be fixed. Also, what are your views on teeth bands? I’m reading mixed comments on the internet about them and I hope you can get in touch. Thank you very much.

Now My Gum Has Fully Healed, Would It Be Possible To Have Three Implants? What Would This Cost?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. I have had a number of teeth extracted over a 5 year period, the last being a year or so ago. The gum has now fully healed leaving no hole. My question is: Can I now get an implant? A replacement tooth to fill the gap left behind from a missing tooth even years after the tooth was extracted? If so, what is the procedure and rough idea of costs for 3 replacement teeth? Does it involve making a hole in the gum to place the implant in? Thank you.

I’ve Recently Had Dental Implants. I Don’t Think One Of Them Fits Properly. Should I Get A Second Opinion?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I’ve recently had dental implants and on one of them which is a bridge over two implants you can see the metal implant like the crown doesn’t quite fit, it’s definitely the metal of the implant that can be seen and not the crown, there is a small gap between crown and gum.
My dentist has said that there is nothing he can do about it but reading up I’m wondering if a gingival graft would bring the gum down a bit to cover the metal implant. Is this possible or will I need a completely new bridge?
My dentist is private and I have paid a lot of money to get all of my treatment done, is it the dentist at fault if the crown doesn’t fit properly or is it down to me to pay out for more treatment?

My Gums Are Receding From Every Tooth. Is It Possible To Have A Gum Graft For Such A Large Area?

Monday, May 12th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hughes. I am having terrible trouble with my gums receding. It started about 10 years ago but with dental treatment it stopped at a level I could cope with but in the last few months it has started up again and now I would say my gums have receded from every tooth and worse of all this morning my top two teeth now have a small gap between them. I am currently on anti-biotics. I have been reading up on gum graphs but is this possible for such a large area? This is badly affecting my life now as I am losing my self-confidence in public and I hate to smile. I hope you can advise me on what to do? Thank you for your time.

Hello Mark. Does Invisalign Have To Be Paid Off In One Lump Sum Or Can It Be Paid Off Monthly?

Monday, May 12th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark, I hope you can help me. I was just wondering if the Invisalign treatments have to be paid in a just one lump sum or if it can be paid monthly or something like that? I live up North, so I would be using the practice that would be closest to me. I have an over-bite and my top teeth are almost straight though my bottom set are in need of sorting, therefore if there is somewhere I can pay it monthly I will definitely book mine as soon as I know. Thank you in advance for your advice.

I Get Sensitive Teeth But My Dentist Won’t Do Anything About It. What Would You Suggest I Do?

Friday, May 9th, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I still have all my baby teeth apart from the front two on the top and bottom. I am now 19. They’re not loose, however they are painful. When I eat or drink certain things my teeth send a bolting ice pain that shoots through them and it really hurts. It makes me feel really down about my smile as with them being so small they make my mouth appear ‘gappy’. My previous dentist doesn’t really pay attention to my teeth maybe this is because I was an NHS customer. However now I work full time and I pay but I still don’t receive a service where he will look into the issues I’m having. What would you suggest I do? Thank you for your time.
