Can you receive a gold crown through the NHS?
Q. I have a back molar that needs a crown and happy to have a metal one there but thought it would be gold but will be made of non-precious metal ie nickel alloy. As there are possible health issues with nickel, can you get a gold one on NHS these days and if not what is price range privately.,
A. The NHS does not specify an alloy just that it functions. To get a high gold / biocompatable alloy expect to pay £350 and above. The better alooys also cast more accurately and wear well, allowing a degree of self adustment in harmony with the natural teeth. Rob
