Can you please tell me what a fissure is as part of a dent?

I am actually studying dentistry and i would neeed some explanations about terms that i don’t understand. Would you mind helping me by answering this questions please: What is a fissure as part of a dent? i am looking forward to having an answer. Thank you.

The fissure is the groove in the middle of the molar tooth

Hey Cirea, either when you wrap a fish in silver foil to keep the juices in or a seal over the fissures of a tooth with a plastic resin to prevent decay – the first sounds more fun!
