can i opt to have a semit-permanent denture in all my lower teeth?
Q. Hello, I have peridontitus (?) already had 3 back molars removed, rest of teeth are lose and have spread. I am having treatment at the moment to have all the pockets scrapped out (2nd time around). I understand that once all my teeth have gone I will no longer have this disease but my bone and cartlidge would have been destroyed making implants difficult. Can I opt to have, say, all my lower teeth removed now and have a semit-permanent denture fitted as shown on your web site for S3 Dentistry and what costs would I be looking at? Many thanks
A. Hi ,
the scraping out of the pockets does not guarantee elimination of the disease it may only slow down its progression, as the continuing cleansing of the pocket afterwards is a significant issue.the bone is lost with gum disease but assuming a patient wants a full lower denture, if it is sited on two implants the cost would be 7000 if it was sited on 4 implants the cost would be 12000.
this is assuming you have enough bone to place the implants in. it would take approximately 6 months to complete the case.
the 4 implant option is the most retentive but 2 implant option is pretty decent.
