Can i go back to my orthodontist to get braces done again for no charge?

Q. I had braces in High school and now I am 26 and my teeth are crooked again. Shouldnt or are orthodontist resposible for this? Can you go back to your orthodontist and ask them to give you braces again for no charge?

A. Hi many thanks for your enquiry. this a a grey subject. its all about the retainer, over 80% of the orthodontic cases my practice treats are re treatment cases. if all the people who undertake orthodontics as children wear there retainers after treatment is complete this would ensure that the teeth would not move back. unfortunately it is unlikely that the orthodontist in question would look at re treating your case for free. hope this is helpful.
